There is a song we used to sing around the fire at summer camp was I was a kid, called “It only takes a spark.” The lyrics go like this:
“It only takes a spark to get a fire going, and soon all those around will warm up to its glowing. That’s how it is with God’s love, once you’ve experienced it. You spread His love to everyone. You want to pass it on.”
Such is the power of one.
One Solitary Person
I have seen the power of that spark in my life, and you have too. History is full of examples of one solitary person who saw a need, stepped out of their comfort zone, and did what was right–often at great peril to themselves. Like sparks their actions and lives rose to light a fire of inspiration and courage in the hearts of others. In many cases, movements were started that continue to touch us all.
Charlie Kirk: One Life, One Mission, One Nation Under God
It was D.L. Moody who said “The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to Him.” We have been given the priceless opportunity to see for ourselves in real time.
Charles James Kirk invested all he had, every day, for 13 years, carrying out the vision God gave him. And he has changed America and the world.
In an age when America’s moral compass seemed to spin wildly, Charlie stood as a fixed point—unmoved, unshaken, and unashamed. From the moment he founded Turning Point USA at just 18 years old, he understood that the battle for America’s soul would not be won in Washington boardrooms or media studios alone—it would be fought on the campuses, in the classrooms, and in the hearts of the next generation.
Charlie’s mission was unapologetically rooted in the conviction that America’s greatness flows from its Judeo-Christian foundation. He reminded us that our Founders did not stumble upon liberty by accident; they built it upon the eternal truths of Scripture. “Freedom is not man’s idea—it is God’s idea,” he declared. And with that truth, he called a generation to reject the counterfeit promises of secularism and return to the bedrock of faith, family, and freedom.
Through Turning Point USA, Charlie mobilized hundreds of thousands of young Americans, equipping them to speak boldly about life, liberty, and the pursuit of righteousness. He made it cool to be conservative again—not as a fashion statement, but as a moral stand. His rallies, podcasts, and AmericaFest gatherings became modern-day camp meetings for a movement hungry for truth. In a culture that told young people to “find your truth,” Charlie pointed them to the Truth—unchanging, eternal, and anchored in God’s Word.
Charlie’s voice carried far beyond America’s borders. In the United Kingdom, at Cambridge and Oxford, he defended Israel and proclaimed the Gospel in halls often hostile to biblical values. His unwavering support for Israel was not political posturing—it was a spiritual commitment. “When you bless Israel, you are not just making a geopolitical choice. You are standing on the side of God’s covenant,” he said. In doing so, he reminded the world that America’s destiny is tied to its faithfulness to God’s promises.
He was fearless in confronting the lies of the radical Left—whether on abortion, gender ideology, or the erosion of free speech. When Antifa threats tried to silence him, he doubled down, offering to bring his own security so the truth could be heard. He understood that silence in the face of evil is itself a form of surrender, and surrender was never in his vocabulary.
Charlie’s life was a living rebuke to the idea that one person can’t make a difference. He proved that one voice, when aligned with God’s truth and amplified by courage, can ignite a movement. His legacy is not merely in the chapters of Turning Point USA or the speeches archived online—it is in the countless young men and women who now stand taller, speak bolder, and live freer because he showed them how.
Charlie Kirk showcased to this generation what a hero looks like in living color. And his assassination has provided the eternal exclamation point.
Hebrews 12:1 speaks of a “great cloud of witnesses” who have gone before, and the implication is that they sit in the heavenly bleachers watching us as we run the race of life. Not everyone gets the gold medal, but those that do are given special honor. Charlie showed us what a gold medal winner looks like. And he taught us how to go for the gold.
Interestingly enough, the Greek word translated “witness” is “martus.” Over time, because many early Christian witnesses were killed for their testimony, martus also came to mean martyr in the sense we use the term today. Charlie Kirk was, indeed a martyr for th faith. It was Turtullian who said in AD 197 “The blood of the martyr is the seed of the church.” We can see already how right Turtullian was by the effect Charlie’s assassination has already had across America and the world.
Every young life born into this world has the power to be a world changer. Charlie, through his words and actions, reminded us of that.
We should never underestimate the power of one. And THANK YOU, Charlie, for showing us what a life well lived looks the 21st Century.
